While most of us can only dream of owning the fastest car in the world, some will do whatever it takes to possess the most powerful speed. So, how fast are the fastest cars in the world?
Here are the 10 fastest street legal cars available on the market (production models, as opposed to concept or modified cars) measured by tested top speed (theoretical speeds do not count).
World's Fastest Cars:
1. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport: 267 mph (429 km/h), 0-60 in 2.4 secs. Aluminum, Narrow Angle 8 Liter W16 Engine with 1200 hp, base price is $2,400,000. Although the Bugatti Veyron lost the title to SSC Ultimate Aero on March 2007, Bugatti challenge the record in Germany on July 10, 2010 with the new 2010 Super Sport Version and the Veyron once again claims the title of the fastest car in the world at 267 mph. The original Bugatti Veyron has a top speed of 253 mph, priced at $1,700,000 and equipped with 1001 hp.
2. Hennessey Venom GT: 260 mph (418 km/h), 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, has a 6.2-liter LS9 Turbocharged V8 Twin Turbo V8 Engine producing 1200 hp, has a price tag of $950,000. The Venom GT has yet to be tested and proven, but could possibly hit a top speed of 275 mph. This might just be the Veyron Super Sport's closest competitor!
3. Koenigsegg Agera R: 260 mph (418 km/h), 0-60 in 2.9 secs. 5.0-liter V8 Engine with twin turbo’s, housing 1099 hp. Base price is $1,600,000. If you're into snow sports, the Agera R can be fitted with a Ski Box as well as winter tires, not that I would take one on a ski trip or anything like that. While the Agera R has a massive theoretical top speed, the current tested top speed is 260 mph. Expect this snow car to be the Bugatti's arch enemy for the next 5 years
4. SSC Ultimate Aero: 257 mph (413 km/h), 0-60 in 2.7 secs. Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with 1183 hp, base price is $654,400. Tested in March 2007 by Guinness World Records, The SSC Ultimate Aero was the fastest car in the world from March 2007 to July 2010. On March 2011, the Koenigsegg Agera R also surpassed it, forcing this American made car to the #3 spot. Shelby SuperCars will continue their quest to reclaim the fastest car title, and their new SSC Tuatura might do the job (we'll just have to wait).
5. 9ff GT9-R: 257 mph (413 km/h), 0-60 in 2.9 secs. 4.0 Litre V6 Twin-Turbo Engine with 1120 hp, base price is $695,000. Based on the Porsche 911, the 9ff GT9-R 1120 hp version is limited to 20 units and the exterior may be modified to suit the owner
Powerful Engines in the world
1. Here is a Big Block Chevy 565ci. This engine was designed with the goal of 700HP on pump gas as a daily driver. We exceeded our goal by 40HP plus made some huge torque at 696ft/lbs at 4200RPM. ”I drop it into 2nd gear at 60MPH and the ET streets light up”, said the t with a smile on his face. We also designed this combo to handle a 100-400 shot of nitrous through fogger system. Plus this engine looks great.clien
2. This was an awesome LS Series Project! We started out with the 6.0L cast block, Callies crank and rods, Wiseco piston (set up for a little nitrous shot), topping off the project with the AFR 225 CNC heads and a custom designed cam, and the Fast LSX RT Intake looks killer on this combo. Making 640HP at the crank, this project proves to be an awesome street machine, and we haven’t even hit it with nitrous yet!
3. Here is a classic engine, the Chevy 409. Just a stock rebuild for cruising but definitely fun and high on the cool and old school scale
4. Here is an awesome upgrade combo for the first gen 4.6L SOHC engine. Bumping up the compression, installing stoutH-Beam connecting rods, and dramatically increasing the flow with a set of Trick Flow heads and Stage 2 Cams, this small cubic inch will really scream! I love when I get the chance to rework all aspects of this project, it really opens the door for a real performance enhancing street ride.
5. Here is a RB series engine with some main studs to strengthen the bottom end, these engines have a stout block, capable of supporting 800-1000HP with the right combination. One of the common issues with these engines is the oil pump drive on the crankshaft, we set up the crank with a new oil pump drive collar to support the extra length for the drive gear on the high volume pump.
Fastest trains in the world
1. The top dog in the world of fast trains is China, which broke the 300 mph barrier with the CRH380A. The 302 mph top speed makes this the fastest legal way to travel by land. shown above.
2. Germany's Transrapid TR-09 uses mag-lev technology and is technically a monorail. However, the 279 mph top speed also makes it the second fastest train on the planet. shown above.
3. Japan is known for the bullet train, so it's no surprise that the Shinkansen train has a top speed of 275 mph. It is nicknamed the "Duck-Billed Platypus" for its odd-looking, aerodynamic nose. shown above.
4. Shangai's magnetic levitation (maglev) train floats above its track thanks to powerful magnets. It covers an 18-mile trip from downtown to the airport in just 8 minutes, hitting 270 mph. shown above.
5. France's TGV Réseau 236 mph capability matches IndyCar speeds. However, normal running is limited to 199 mph.
Thank you.. Await for more!!!!!!
